A stone cutter hammering a rock

Leading with strengths

Coaching, Strategy, and Technology for organizations and the people who run them.

Look at a stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before.

Strengths first, for strategy, execution, and talent

Friday Advisory Partners was founded to be a different type of consultancy. We start every engagement the same way: by finding what an organization and its people already do well, and building on it, because why wouldn’t you want your team operating in their natural talents instead of fixing their weaknesses?

That holds whether the question is how a team works together, whether a program is making a difference, or where AI fits in the business.

A person hears "fix your weaknesses" from every direction

People. Process. Tools.

Lasting performance comes from three things working together, in that order.

People

Lasting success comes when people lean into their natural talents and develop them into strengths, instead of trying to fix what they lack. We coach individuals, managers and teams to do exactly that. Coaching and workshops

Process

Clear strategy and well-defined processes put those strengths to work, and sound evaluation tells you whether the work is making a difference. Strategy and operations · Research and evaluation

Tools

Tools make good processes go fast, not the other way around. We help you decide where AI fits, and we built Backshack to deliver it. AI strategy and tools

How we work

1. Identify natural talents

We assess individual and organizational strengths to unlock potential, so teams operate by leveraging what comes naturally to them.

2. Align through coaching

Coaching helps team members, managers and executives develop natural talents into strengths that serve strategic objectives.

3. Execute with purpose

A team united by a shared goal and focused on its collective strengths, rather than fixing weaknesses, is unstoppable.

A coach changed my position, and my career

I was a 220-lb defensive lineman at Notre Dame, going up against 300-lb linemen and trying to do something that did not fit my natural talents. A teammate suggested I move to linebacker. By my junior season I was a starter, a Butkus Award candidate, and led the team in tackles.

When strengths are the foundation, success is not just possible. It is inevitable.
